Trail Journeys

Pre-Conference Trail Journeys

There is no better way to learn about trails and engage with trail experts, than on a trail.

These journeys will be designed specifically to unlock deep networking, powerful insights and memorable experiences in small groups.

3-Day Tourism Best Practices Trails Journey

This trail journey focuses on highlighting best practices for leveraging trails for tourism. The group will visit  the proposed Eastern Ontario Rail Trail Loop in the Ottawa area and feature a mix of local guest speakers and learning-while-doing assessment activities to highlight lessons learned around this topic.

The Eastern Ontario Rail Trail Loop (EORTL) is a proposed 360 km rail trail loop in the counties of Frontenac, Lanark and Renfew in eastern Ontario. The EORTL will be comprised of the Frontenac K & P Trail, (Renfrew) K & P Trail, The Algonquin Trail, The Ottawa Valley Recreational Trail and the Cataraqui Trail. All of these trails are independently managed and maintained by various organizations and non-profit organizations. The purpose of this project is to increase tourism benefits for community by driving visitation from urban to rural areas, creating an active outdoor experience and support economic sustainability.

This journey is an opportunity to learn more about collaboration between trails and communities, explore the challenges and rewards of establishing and promoting a trail network, and discover the beauty of the Ottawa area.
