Spend 5 days immersed in the trails of the Walpole Wilderness Area on WA’s South Coast. This program offers a mix of forest walking on an iconic trail, and paddling sea kayaks on local paddle trails. The program is moderately adventurous, suitable for those willing to tent for 2 of the nights with basic facilities, able to carry a 10-12kg pack for 4-5 hours per day, and to paddle a stable sea kayak for a similar duration.
The Walpole Wilderness is a spectacular region of WA, with towering Karri and Tingle forests, stunning waterways and wild remote beaches. Going Outside – Growing Inside proprietor Dave Boldy has been guiding groups through the area for over 30 years, providing thoughtful outdoor experiences that are safe, well organised and tailored to suit participants.
Inclusions:
The program is inclusive of accommodation (2 nights tenting, 2 nights in cabin accommodation), catering (a mix of purchased meals and self-catering), transport from your Perth Hotel, sea kayak and paddling gear hire, hire of selected hiking equipment, and all logistics and guiding.
Days 1-3 – Bibbulmun Track Hike
We will make an early start with pickup from your Perth accommodation and minibus travel to Walpole (400km) via Manjimup. We will set you up with packs, tents and associated hiking equipment and get onto the trail with a short walk into the first Bibbulmun Track campsite.

The hiking component of the program involves a continuous journey with 2 nights at Bibbulmun Track campsites, covering around 15km each day at a relaxed pace. The journey will take us along the Frankland River valley, through the spectacular Karri/Tingle Forest, with a stop in at the Valley of the Giants Tree Top Walk. The campsites are basic 3 sided shelters with a toilet and water tank. Groups are required to tent.

Days 3-5
For the second half of the program, we base ourselves in cabin-style accommodation, and paddle local stretches of river and inlet following selected paddle trail routes on the Frankland River, Nornalup and Walpole Inlets and Deep River. You will have the option for your own room with a shared cabin, or to share a room. We paddle stable single and double sea kayaks that are well suited to the local inlets, with distances again up to around 15km per day. The selected route is weather dependent, but will likely include a mix of river and inlet paddling, with some short walks out to rugged South Coast beaches. Paddling experience will be an advantage but not a necessity – we can show you what you need to know!
We return to Perth on the afternoon of Day 5 in time for you to reset and prepare for the start of the conference.
Note that every program is unique and the final itinerary is subject to weather, group fitness and safety.
