The spectacular Peel region is a trail enthusiasts paradise, just an hour’s drive from Perth and home to Ramsar-listed wetlands, waterways for days, towering jarrah forests and a magnificent coastline. Trails of every kind are packed into this whistle-stop four-day tour including a heritage train ride and hike along WA’s iconic Bibbulmun Track, a dawn paddle, thrilling downhill mountain biking on Dwellingup’s adventure trails, a cultural walking tour through Yalgorup National Park, stargazing and even an arts trail featuring Thomas Dambo’s Giants. All you’d expect from the region that claimed two national awards in 2023 – Mandurah for Top Tourism Town and Dwellingup for Top Tiny Tourism Town.
Tour participants should possess a moderate level of fitness and need to be able to ride a bike independently. All cycling experiences offer the option of an e-bike for those who need an extra boost. The Murray Valley Mountain Bike trails experience can be tailored to suit your level of ability and participants looking for excitement can select trails with high difficulty (Black rating) as well as with beginners and intermediate options.

Thursday 15th October
9am – Bus departs Perth for Mandurah Ocean Marina Chalets
10.15am to 2pm – Check in/time to explore Mandurah
Experience 1 – Lake Clifton Adventure
2pm – 7pm: Discover the ancient wonders of Lake Clifton on this immersive cultural and nature-based experience. Embark on the Lakeside Loop walking trail with a local Aboriginal tour company, where you will learn about Nyungar traditions, bush foods and storytelling deeply connected to the land and waterways. As the sun sets over the remarkable thrombolites, living fossils that date back 2,000 years, enjoy a relaxed dinner before gazing at the night sky in one of WA’s most unique stargazing settings. This experience blends cultural insight, natural wonder and unforgettable moments in the Peel region.
Overnight in Mandurah at the Mandurah Ocean Marina Chalets
Laid-back, chalet-style accommodation situated at Dolphin Quay in the heart of Mandurah on the picturesque Venetian-style canals of the Mandurah Ocean Marina. Within easy walking distance of local shops, cafes, waterfront restaurants and the beach.
Friday 16th October
Experience 2 – Sunrise Kayaking on the Mandurah Waterways
5.30am – 7.30am: Start the day with a peaceful paddle as the sun rises over Mandurah’s calm estuary and canals. Glide across glassy waters while spotting dolphins, birdlife and the natural beauty of the region waking up around you. Guided by local experts, this gentle kayaking tour offers a refreshing way to connect with nature, embrace the tranquility of early morning and experience Mandurah from a unique perspective.
Experience 3 – Ride the Giants Tour on an E-Bike
10am – 1pm: Hop on an e-bike and set off on a scenic journey through Mandurah’s waterfront to discover Thomas Dambo’s Giants of Mandurah. This guided, 3 hour tour takes you along picturesque foreshore trails, past coastal landscapes and through hidden paths to visit some of the sculptural giants nestled in natural settings. Along the way, your guide shares stories of art, local culture and environmental significance bringing each giant to life. With gentle terrain and stops for photos and stories, this ride is ideal for visitors wanting to combine active exploration with Mandurah’s artistic and natural highlights.
Experience 4 – Wild Seafood Experience
Please note this experience is an optional add on for $285 per person.
3pm – 6.30pm: Cap off your day with a coastal feast steeped in maritime adventure. Cruise Mandurah’s estuaries, haul your own Western Rock Lobster pots and delight in a chef-prepared seafood banquet paired with local flavors. With sweeping water views, expert commentary and fresh catches, it’s a truly immersive seafood experience that captures the essence of Mandurah’s aquatic charm.

Saturday 17th October
9am – Bus departs for Dwellingup
Experience 5 – Off the Beaten Track and Hotham Valley Railway
9.45am – 4pm: Discover Dwellingup by rail and long-distance trail! Take a heritage train ride along the former Dwellingup Forest Railway to Etmilyn Station then hike back to town on WA’s iconic Bibbulmun Track for some delicious gourmet pizza.
This 10km guided hiking and adventure experience takes you through stunning Darling Range Forest scenery of jarrah, banksia, grass trees and marri eucalypt. The tour will be led by award-winning hiking and adventure tour company Off the Beaten Track, a fully licensed, insured and accredited Western Australian tourism business. All guides carry two-way communication devices and a personal location beacon when phone signal is not available.
Sunday 18th October
Experience 6 – Dwellingup Adventures Mountain Bike Trail Adventure
9am –11.45am: Explore Murray Valley Trails with adventure experts Dwellingup Adventures. This 35km network of purpose built single-track MTB trails offers riders a stunning experience through Lane Poole Reserve. From traditional cross-country trails through to all-mountain descents into the valley, and trails suitable for beginners and advanced riders – the Murray Valley Trails have something for everyone! Includes helmets and bike hire.
12pm – 12.30pm – Freshen up and explore Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Information Centre
Experience 7 – Lunch & Gin Tasting at The Exchange Hotel
1pm – 2.30pm: The Exchange Hotel, Pinjarra, isn’t just a pub, it’s a piece of living history with a bold new feel. Once hailed as “The Prettiest Watering Place in WA”, this heritage gem is a vibrant melding of modern architecture with Pinjarra’s local heritage. Nestled on the main street with views of the Murray River, The Exchange also has a sprawling waterfront beer garden and it’s own small batch gin distillery.
