The Peel region is a true trails showcase of Western Australia’s diversity, offering delegates an immersive journey through interconnected landscapes, communities and trail experiences—all within an hour of Perth. From coastal paths and estuary paddles, to ancient wetlands, cultural walking trails, forest hikes and world-class mountain bike networks, this multi-day experience highlights the breadth of trail types that define WA as a global trail destination.
Designed as both an exploration and a delegate connection experience, this tour creates space to share knowledge, build relationships and exchange ideas while actively experiencing the landscapes and trail infrastructure that underpin Western Australia’s growing reputation in trail tourism, conservation and recreation.
Across four days, delegates will experience a carefully curated mix of trail types including a heritage rail-to-trail hike along the iconic Bibbulmun Track, sunrise paddling on Mandurah’s waterways, cultural walking experiences through Ramsar-listed wetlands, forest-based hiking, purpose-built mountain bike trail networks in Dwellingup, and accessible arts and sculpture trails featuring Thomas Dambo’s Giants. The experience is rounded out with stargazing, local food stories and place-based interpretation—showcasing how trails connect environment, culture and community.
The Peel region—recent winner of Top Tourism Town (Mandurah) and Top Tiny Tourism Town (Dwellingup)—offers a concentrated example of how diverse trail experiences can be developed within a single destination.
Participants should have a moderate level of fitness and be confident riding a bike independently. E-bikes are available across cycling experiences for added support. The Murray Valley Mountain Bike Trail network can be tailored to all abilities, from beginner green trails through to technical black-grade descents, ensuring every delegate can engage at their own pace and comfort level.

ITINERARY
Thursday 15 October
9:00am – Bus departs Perth for Mandurah Ocean Marina Chalets
10:15am – 2:00pm – Check-in / Explore Mandurah
Experience 1 – Lake Clifton Trail & Cultural Landscape Walk
2:00pm – 7:00pm
Begin the journey on country with a guided cultural and nature-based trail experience along the Lakeside Loop. Led by a local Aboriginal tour operator, this experience connects delegates to Nyungar culture, bush foods, seasonal knowledge and storytelling embedded in the landscape.
The trail unfolds through the ancient Lake Clifton environment, where delegates encounter the remarkable thrombolites—living fossil reef structures over 2,000 years old. As the walk transitions into sunset, the experience extends into shared reflection over dinner and concludes with stargazing in one of WA’s most unique night-sky environments.
This opening experience sets the tone for the tour—connecting culture, land and people through trail-based learning and shared dialogue.

Friday 16 October
Experience 2 – Sunrise Waterways Trail Paddle
5:30am – 7:30am
A gentle early-morning paddle along Mandurah’s estuary trail network, offering a water-based trail experience through canals, wetlands and open waterways. Delegates move through a living ecosystem of dolphins, birdlife and shifting light—experiencing the region as an interconnected aquatic trail system.

Experience 3 – Mandurah Sculpture & Coastal Trail (Ride the Giants)
10:00am – 1:00pm
An e-bike guided journey along Mandurah’s coastal and urban trail network, linking foreshore paths, green corridors and hidden connectors between community spaces.
This trail experience showcases the integration of art, environment and recreation infrastructure, as delegates visit Thomas Dambo’s Giants located throughout natural and urban landscapes. The experience highlights how trail design can connect people to place through storytelling, sculpture and accessible active transport routes.

Experience 4 – Wild Seafood Trail Experience
(Optional Add-On for $285 per person)
3:00pm – 6:30pm
A signature coastal experience combining working waterways, seafood trails and local food systems. Delegates engage directly with Mandurah’s maritime landscape, including lobster potting, estuary navigation and a chef-prepared seafood banquet celebrating local produce and place-based cuisine.

Saturday 17 October
Experience 5 – Dwellingup Forest Trail Journey (Rail + Bibbulmun Track)
9:45am – 4:00pm
A signature multi-modal trail experience combining heritage rail and long-distance hiking. Travel by historic Hotham Valley Railway through the forest before transitioning onto foot for a guided hike along the Bibbulmun Track—one of Australia’s iconic long-distance walking trails.

This experience highlights the depth of WA’s forest trail systems, moving through jarrah, marri, banksia and grass tree ecosystems while exploring how long-distance trails connect landscapes, communities and conservation values.
The return hike to Dwellingup concludes with shared food and informal delegate networking.

Sunday 18 October
Experience 6 – Murray Valley Mountain Bike Trail Network
9:00am – 11:45am
An immersive ride through Dwellingup’s purpose-built mountain bike trail network, showcasing one of WA’s premier trail destinations. The network includes cross-country, flow,
technical and downhill trails designed for all skill levels.
This experience demonstrates how trail design can support both recreation and tourism while catering to diverse user groups, from beginners to advanced riders, within a single connected system.

Experience 7 – Trail Connections, Local Food & Reflection
1:00pm – 2:30pm
A relaxed shared lunch at The Exchange Hotel in Pinjarra, combining local food, heritage storytelling and informal delegate networking. This historic venue forms part of the wider Pinjarra Heritage Trail connecting Pinjarra townsite with Edenvale Heritage precinct and the Murray River.
